Bắc Kạn

Bắc Kạn is a mountain province with a large Tày population living around Ba Bể lake, so its food is bound up with freshwater fish, glutinous rice and traditional leaf-wrapped cakes. Grilled fish from Pác Ngòi, bánh gio (ash-water glutinous rice cake) with cane molasses, and hand-made miến (dong-starch glass noodles) are the province's most representative products.
